  • Established in 1971, Pennsylvania’s 29 intermediate units (IUs) are regional educational service agencies that provide programs and services to students and staff in public and non-public schools
  • IUs receive no direct funds for student services
  • PaTTAN and the Bureau of Special Education (BSE) work with IUs through Training and Consultation Staff (TaCS), providing updates and training that TaCS share with the school districts in their regions
  • BSE values our partnership and collaboration with IUs and their member school districts
