Creating Sustainable Change

Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtII) and/or multi-tiered systems of support cannot work without a balance between effective framework implementation (the skill) and the collective will (sustainable leadership) to implement well based upon what has been shown to work in research. This will warrant regular (and eventually seamless) adjustments to implementation efforts relative to student performance outcomes. There will also be a premium on opportunities for shared professional learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as commendations for implementation perseverance and patience. The most seasoned of RtII implementers report steadily rising outcomes and no proverbial finish line when it comes to making adjustments, cultivating consensus and learning from mistakes. The following presentation and support materials are designed to empower implementers with robust tools and knowledge related to implementation fidelity and the journey toward sustainable practices and leadership.

RtII and School Organizational Change: Promoting Sustainability and Shared Leadership: This presentation reviews the essence of the SAS:RtII connection and the myths and realities related to organizations and change as well as people and change. It covers the major tenants of school improvement and discusses what sustainable practices and leadership looks, sounds and feels like. Skills and resources are provided throughout. The following links are embedded throughout the presentation and are excellent resources on their own:
