Working Together to Benefit ALL Students

As a parent, you are an essential partner in your child’s education.

Students with involved parents and families are more likely to:
  • Earn higher grades and test scores
  • Attend school regularly
  • Have better social skills
  • Adapt well to school
  • Go on to post-secondary education
    (National Parent Teacher Association, 2009).

One of the most important ways for you to be involved in your child’s education is to be informed. There are many resources, training events, and videos available on the PaTTAN website to assist you in learning about specific disabilities and educational initiatives. Several featured resources, designed specifically for parents and families, are listed on the right-hand side of this page.

In addition, each regional PaTTAN office has a parent consultant on staff who can provide assistance to you. Our parent consultants are:
  • Judy Baker, PaTTAN Pittsburgh
  • Linda Cartwright, PaTTAN East
  • Jacqui DiDomenico, PaTTAN East
  • Amiris DiPuglia, PaTTAN Harrisburg

Feel free to contact the parent consultant should you have questions or need information.

Supporting a child through the education process takes a team approach. There are many partners that are able to provide support, including your local school district. The organizations and agencies of interest listed on the right-hand side of this page may also provide you with additional support, resources, and information.
